WELCOME TO CARMEL ART EDUCATION STUDIO
Awakening a spirit of creativity
OUR STORY
Carmel Art Education Studio was founded in 2018 by Irina Smulevitch - a seasoned artist and educator and a long time Carmel resident. A graduate of Master of Fine Arts, Irina has taught art and design classes, both privately and in higher education, for 25 years. For the past ten years she was a full-time drawing and watercolor instructor at the Indianapolis Art Center. Irina is an acclaimed and award-winning artist whose works have been exhibited internationally and belong to private collectors around the world. Irina's vision is to provide art education to the entire community in a creative and inspiring space right in the heart of the beautiful Village of WestClay.
“For me, teaching and painting are interconnected. Painting is simply communicating through the language of art. I want to be able to share my thoughts and emotions, and make people around me happy,” says Irina, “I believe that it is very important to awaken a spirit of creativity in everyone, whatever their level of artistic potential. Our classes generate a sense of shared culture, experience, and diversity. We talk about the history of art. We have open discussions about issues that are important in our lives. In an age of technology we sometimes lose sight of natural qualities. Art opens the opportunity for us to communicate with each other, to offer encouragement, and to bring more vitality into our lives.”
Irina works tirelessly to help cultivate the inner artist in all of her students and guests who come into her studio. In addition to regular classes, the studio offers workshops, lectures and themed art nights to help inspire a creative spark.
